Wole, Wole I remember.....

I remember when I first heard your name which your mum called you, I was in shock as i had known you for a good few years by then!.  I asked you who that was and you laughed it was 'you'! (myself at the time being naive about the Nigerian culture) I was like I thought David was your name and you had a laugh at me and kindly explained the reason behind it.  I went on to share a few thoughts on why you should be using that name and not the English one!! which you thought was very amusing.

From then I became very intrigued about your Nigerian heritage, I also asked you to teach me your language.  Until this day I am still waiting for a real lesson!!!  I used to get very curious when you spoke your mother tongue as I didn't know what you was saying, so I used to mimics you and you called me a name which I will not repeat here lol! but if you know this story you know what David called me lol which I will defend myself until this day isn't true.  Until a few months ago you still was going on about it!!!!

From that day, I was determined to speak to you in your mother tongue and finally after watching Bob hearts Abishola on TV (thank you Gina Yashere) I could drop a few phrases with you, to which you graciously congratulated me but didn't have the heart to tell me it was the wrong dialect !!!!

That is you all over, making sure everybody is ok and trying and making sure that people were comfortable and offering to help.

I have so many stories like this of you, we also talked long and hard and I will cherish this.

You were the first person to believe in something I wanted to do and encouraged me at all times and continued to support me when I made the transition to go forward with my plans and I thank you for that.  Having your support made all the difference and I didn't tell you this.

You will be cherished in my household, your God daughter will always celebrate their Uncle Bobby to which that is another story! with their God brother Remi right by their side.

You will never be forgotten but always be celebrated.

Love always Uncle Bobby from Benita and family xx
